 ChallengeThe challenge

As a learning designer at CSU Channel Islands, one of Georgia VanTyne’s chief responsibilities is to upskill and motivate adoption of learning technologies at her institution.

Solution The solution

PlayPosit by WeVideo has become a useful resource to faculty as they’ve adopted more asynchronous and online learning formats.

When the university adopted PlayPosit's interactive tools, VanTyne was tasked with creating a curriculum to efficiently onboard faculty.  For each PlayPosit topic area, VanTyne and her team built the following resources:

  • Blog and Google site detailing the basics and linking back to additional resources.
  • How-to guides with detailed steps for each use case.
  • Live, hands-on, interactive workshops to help new team members be successful.

Result The results

The interactive workshops are perhaps the most pivotal opportunity for VanTyne’s faculty members to learn to use PlayPosit. Because PlayPosit is intuitive and user-friendly, many educators walk away from her workshops with their first interactive video. This way, they’ve overcome the initial hurdles of content creation while knocking out the creation of their first lesson in the platform.

Challenge (1)Key takeaways

PlayPosit Customer Success Managers (CSMs) helped build presentations on the platform and directly partnered with VanTyne to roll out the curriculum to her colleagues.

By working together, both VanTyne and the CSMs were able to make sure everyone got the right information with the right permissions. They were able to publicly embed materials and make them readily available to CSU Channel Islands faculty for access before and after the training process.

While VanTyne opts to use other resources to house her actual onboarding curriculum, leaning on her partners at PlayPosit has helped create valuable curriculum that gets faculty up to speed quickly. Benefits of interactive video

  • Empowers independent learning
  • Positively impacts the pedagogy of a campus when used properly
  • Provides valuable data for instructors

Practical strategies for educators

Part of motivating faculty to invest time into learning about these powerful tools involves making sure they understand the value of them.

VanTyne recommends framing PlayPosit as a platform that does the following:

  1. Saves time with automatic grading, reusable and shareable Bulbs (interactive videos), so they can rinse and repeat effective strategies.
  2. Answers questions educators often have, like whether or not students are watching their videos or how much information students retained from a lecture.
  3. Gives additional data for asynchronous and flipped classroom instruction.
