[Test] Quick Tips for Better New Year’s Party Videos

/ Nikolay Tchaouchev

New Year’s parties are the perfect place to make memorable videos. Whether you’re attending a party with friends and family or an event with co-workers, here are some quick tips to making your New Year’s Party Videos better.

During the Party

Start Recording Early: Be sure to record your interviews early in the evening. Not everyone is at their best toward the end of a party or after a couple drinks.
Go Toward the Light:  If the party is dimly lit, activate the low light setting on your camera or cell phone.  When interviewing people, move them as close as possible to a good light source.
Record the Details:

Guests greeting one another

Close-ups of bubbles in a Champaign glass

Anything with the year (hats, glasses, napkins, etc.)

A shot from above the party (perhaps from a staircase)

People counting down the final seconds of the old year

The clock ticking down to midnight

Ask People Interesting Questions:

What is your favorite memory from the past year?

What do you hope to accomplish in the coming year?

How do you think the world will remember this year?

After the Party

Keep your final video short: Somewhere between 30 seconds and 3 minutes.
Highlight the Best Parts of the Party: Intercut them with quick shots of the party’s details.
Pick a Stylish Theme: We suggest using WeVideo’s “Confetti” or “Icy Blast” theme to customize the final look and sound of your video.
